Truly Best In Its Class!!!!
I’ve been wanting to buy a masticating juicer for a long time. My mother is a HUGE fan of the green star from Tribest for its twin gear set up. However, it was a little above my budget, and so I was excited when Tribest came out with a single vertical masticating auger which is supposed to be even more efficient in extracting juices!
After researching to death, I decided to go with this juicer for the following reasons:
1) 47 RPM - this was a key factor in my decision as most comparable units run at 80 RPM. The slower the mechanism is, the better and more efficient the juicer is. It also helps with retaining more nutrients.
2) The small footprint - Living in a small studio, it is imperative that I make the most use of the limited counter top space I have. The small footprint (both for use and storage) made this type of juicer ideal for my intended use.
3) The auger is double-edged which makes it more efficient and yields more juice.
4) The...
Long journey, but ultimately a great juicer.
I was very excited to finally receive this juicer after saving for it for months. Unfortunately, every time I used it (tried for over two weeks) the pulp would build up in the hollowed out part in the bottom of the auger. Seems like a design flaw to me. Every time it would jam up I would struggle to get it open, have to clean it out and start over again. Today I tried to make a large batch of the Mean Green recipe and chopped up everything VERY small and mixed up the order that I was putting the veggies in and it jammed SEVEN times. I was tempted to throw it out the back door! I like the idea of the double blade auger but in reality it just doesn't work very well. And for carrots and beets...no way. I chopped them into very small 1/4 inch pieces and it was ridiculous. So now I have started the return process and will have to wait up to 4 weeks to get my refund before I can order the Omega VRT400. Hoping for better luck with the Omega. ****UPDATE**** After packing up the...
not so good as promised
I have been juicing now for three weeks using the slowstar juicer. This is my first juicer and I bought this based on it being slow so as to give you a better quality juice, and the double blade on the auger which should cut the vegetables more efficiently. The problem with the juicer, it has a hard time cutting carrots, cabbage, and beets. Basically anything hard stops the machine after a few minutes and you have to take it apart to clean it. I cut the carrots up in short pieces about three inches long, after I put in the leafy vegetables to help push them through. The machine itself is very quiet until you put in cabbage or broccoli in particular and it makes a lot of noise since it has a problem cutting hard vegetables. I put the leafy vegetables in followed by a piece of an apple, or other juicy item to help push the leafy items through. I am not satisfied with this juicer. It takes so long to get juice and it cannot handle very many carrots or cabbage in particular. The...
