Oreck Quest Canister Vacuum



Powerful and lightweight
We've recently replaced all of the carpeting in our home with hardwoods. We've had a Oreck upright for a long time and really liked it but the brushes kept throwing stuff away from the vacuum on the hardwoods. We looked around and several other canister vacuums before purchasing this one. We really love it, it picks up cat hair and litter extremely well as well as anything else we put in front of it. We also purchase the vacuum powered power brush to use with it for furniture and it also works for a while. My only word of caution is be careful when buying bags for it because less you buy the correct one they will leak inside of the vacuum!

Wonderful Vacuum with Drawbacks
The price on Amazon for this was amazing, considering it was double the amount at the Oreck store for the exact same vacuum with parts. The suction is excellent, the handling is fine and nimble, and the engine is quiet. My major complaint is that it does not come with any accessory pieces (brush nozzle, hardwood/tile floor soft brush nozzle, But Oreck seems to be nickeling and diming customers in a greedy way lately, so I was not surprised. The vacuum did come with one floor head sweeper, but it is not good for harder surfaces (might scratch tile and wood)--and it does have some other odd little mini-brush that I cannot understand how it can be useful on anything other than a computer keyboard! But, pathetically, there aren't any other cleaning attachments with this item. If you need a softer head brush, I suggest doing what I did: purchasing through Oreck direct the soft-bristle brushhead that comes with the Oreck Ultimate Handheld Vacuum.
