Excellent and versatile rice cooker
17 or so years ago I had my first introduction to a rice cooker. We were living in South Korea and I bought a Zojirushi, simple, on/off switch, worked great. I went from scorched gross rice to delicious rice my first use. Moving back to the states my beloved Zo was dropped. I bought another one. We love rice in this house. We do a lot of Asian food, korean, Chinese, Thai, and we make a lot of rice. We also make a lot of rice for our cajun food, red beans and rice, etc.
My Zo was showing it's age and I went to the base exchange to buy a new one. As we were putting it in the cart I noticed this aroma.. hmm.. half the price! At one time I had tried a fuzzy logic Zo and hated it so I had went back to on/off make the rice. It worked for me. However, this rice maker says it makes rice, brown rice, steams, and has a 15 hour delay! It also sautes. My goodness! I figured I'd try it and if I hated it I could always take it back and buy the machine I had headed out to buy...
Great dorm stove!
I don't have a stove, so I replaced my old rice cooker with this model. It's great for steaming, slow cooking, and stewing. For example, if you need to bring something to a boil and then cook for X minutes, use the Smart Steam feature that starts timing when your water comes to a boil.
use once a wk so it accomplishes what I bought it for
It works great an as described... I like the aspect of setting it an forgetting it as i do happen to forget the time once in a while. The reason for four stars is that it does scorce brown rice, very lil but it does...but compared to what happed to pot cooked rice ill take a small amount of scorching
